New Music Friday

Hi everyone!

It’s been a long time and I’m sorry. Everything has been really hectic, but you’ll get that update on Tuesday. For now, it’s music Friday and it’s a pretty exciting Friday. It’s May 12th and both Paramore and Machine Gun Kelly released albums today and they’re both incredible.

I’ve listened to all of “Bloom” by Machine Gun Kelly (it’s pretty great car music) and I really like it so far. It’s got that traditional MGK rapid-fire style, but he also tackles serious subjects like he always does. He’s never afraid to talk about where he came from or how hard he struggled to get where he is. He may rap about hundred dollar bills and private jets, but he’ll also talk about exactly how low everything got before he got his record deal.

There are also a few collaborations that are amazing. Of course Bad Things is on this album, I’ve been singing along with it since it dropped in October of last year. Also “At My Best” one of my favorite songs of 2017 already, which dropped back in March with Hailee Steinfield.

My favorite song on the album (as of right now) is either “Go For Broke” or “At My Best”.

Paramore also released their follow-up to their self-titled album, “After, Laughter”. It’s so different but the lyrics feel so familiar. It’s like being gone for a period of time and then coming home? The lyrics are so fresh, but still so relatable to all of us.

They also announced the next Parahoy! which of course I can’t go to, but it’s okay. I love that they continue to do this year after year. It’s such an awesome and unique experience.

I need more time with “After Laughter” before I decide a favorite, but I’ll have one for you Friday.

Enjoy all the music!

All You Are is History

Maybe I should set myself to update biweekly? It’s really hard to update every single week during the school year, but next semester will be so much lighter than this one. I’m only taking 12 hours and I’m very excited.

Just hang in tight these last few crazy weeks of the semester and then I will definitely be able to keep you updated every week. Especially starting in the new year.

To catch you up on this past week and a half, I did better on my physical chemistry test, a 57, which is actually almost a C on my teacher’s grading scale. Honestly? I’m passing and that’s all I want. I will take a D and run with it.

In light of all of the events in Paris, I just wanted to say I am praying for Paris, and praying for the world. I was supposed to go to see Against the Current in Nashville, but I didn’t. I was tired from my insane week and I was anxious about everything, especially since one of the attacks was at a concert. I also wasn’t in a good head space on Friday, and I’m not really sure what triggered it. I wanted to self harm, but I was able to hold out and for that, I am proud of myself.

I have the heartsupport app, and a couple times a week, they send messages of support from people like Jake Luhrs from August Burns Red and others and it helps so much.

Monday was probably one of the best days of my life. I had already tentatively decided on see State Champs during my last post, but I was sure by Friday. I was also sure that I would be going by myself. So I started searching tumblr and twitter to see if any of my mutual friends/followers were going to my show. They weren’t, but I saw that another fan was going by herself so I tweeted her.

She is awesome and we were able to go together and hang out the entire time. I got to meet Derek, Evan, Ryan, and Tyler. They signed my “The Acoustic Things” vinyl, and Derek promised they would be back soon. I am so excited to see them again. It was amazing.

I also got to reconnect with a friend I met at my first Mayday Parade show back in May of 2013. Monday made everything else, the rest of my week, worth it.

On the sad side, I’m not really talking to  Katie, again. We hashed it out from two weeks ago (not really, I just caved again, because it really wasn’t worth it), but Friday night we were watching a movie with Sarah and there was a scene with a mom and daughter. Basically the mom was being TMI, and I said that (as did the daughter in the movie) and Katie had the nerve to tell me I didn’t know my parents.

I don’t know them because I respect their privacy? I don’t know them because I respect their right to tell me what I need to know when I need to know it? I was really pissed and she’s just acting like she didn’t say anything.

So as of right now, we haven’t talked since Friday. That’s probably not good considering we live in the same room and I spent like 75% of my time yesterday in the room with her.

I’m just over it. I can’t wait for graduation, because after that, I probably won’t talk to her anymore. I’m not going to lie. I’m not really that sad about that either. I’ll pray on it.

Set It Off- The New Music Fridays

Hi everyone!

So I had a new music Tuesday thing going on, but recently they changed it to Fridays. I also combined my music selection with my new music posts. So all of my music posts will be together.

Today I want to talk about Set It Off.

Basically, I listened to a few songs from Set It Off in late 2013- early 2014 as I was getting back into pop punk, alternative music. I liked “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”, but I never really looked into Set It Off.

Back in November of 2014, I started listening to Set It Off, because I thought I would have been able to go to the Black Mass Tour. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to any of those dates near me.

I really started to like Set It Off. Then I heard that they were doing to Glamour Kills Spring Break Tour 2015 with my babies As It Is (from England), and I had to go.

I got to see them in March and met all of them and As It Is and Against the Current. It was incredible. After meeting them and seeing them live, I completely fell in love with them.

Set It Off has music that makes me feel. Cody sings emotions that make me feel. I love their music. Their new video for Wild Wild World is my favorite so far.

My favorite songs of theirs are definitely Wild Wild World, Missing You, and Tomorrow. My favorite album is Duality.

Hopefully you’ll check their music out and enjoy it!

PS. shout out to rockersoph27, I love the music of the month and I’m trying to do better with my music posts every week.

I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead

Hey everyone!

I’m back at school. My trip out of the country was absolutely amazing. I got to work with Habitat for Humanity and we built the foundation of a house. It was hard work and we were in the tropics, but I loved it. We also got to meet the family that we were building for and hear their story. Honestly, I’m blessed that I had a chance to do something like this. It makes me want to help more.

School started back this week and I am so not ready for it. I’m counting down to Friday already because I want to have a breather. I think once I figure everything out and get my routine down, I’ll be fine. I’m taking 19 hours this semester, which is a lot, but 3 of them are online. I’m excited about both of my chemistry classes, but I know I have to manage my time much better this semester. I started by scheduling everything.

The time between class is now used for lunch, but also homework. I can write a pre-lab in that time, or finish physics homework. I’m just really excited for this semester. I already know I need to sleep more and I’m going to work on that too.

Music-wise, I just started listening to Set It Off and my little UK babies, As It Is are going on tour with them. Hopefully I can see them in March. Fall Out Boy’s new album deserves a post by itself and I’ll write it sometime this weekend.

As you can tell, it’s about to get hectic.
